About enterprise
Sterhuis, Company
Our motto "There is no easy way from the earth to the stars" symbolises the dedication and perseverance with which we have developed, and continue to nurture, our family estate.
Since purchasing the farm in 1980, we have embarked on an unswerving mission of upgrading the infrastructure and establishing the most appropriate plantings of noble cultivars and clones on the various slopes, each offering to the vines its unique earthly idiosyncrasies and climatic characteristics in which to prosper.
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot have been planted, in addition to the old Chenin Blanc bush vines that have weathered more than 33 vintages. Other noble cultivars are being introduced.
Though naturally shy and low-bearing in our oceanic temperate terroir (and deliberately restrained to yield smaller, better balanced harvests), Sterhuis Farm's vineyards are destined for an exciting future of superb wines.
